RTNETLINK answers: File exists - Configure interfaces ubuntu 12.04

After configure interface in ubuntu 12.04, restart service networking:
# service networking restart
....
RTNETLINK answers: File exists

And check interface shows nothing changed.

Solution:

# ip addr flush dev eth0
